What if you had the opportunity to keep your finger on the pulse of what is happening at the new Dallas Farmers Market and also help get fresh produce and other fresh foods into the hands of low income families in your neighborhood?
The Dallas Farmers Market is once again accepting SNAP benefits for all eligible items sold in The Shed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and at Market Provisions Co. store seven days a week. SNAP, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, provides for healthy food options and other nutrition resources to millions of low income individuals and families across the country.
The SNAP Station in The Shed provides SNAP customers with tokens redeemable like cash on SNAP eligible items sold in the farmers market such as fruits and vegetables, honey, breads and cereals, meats and poultry, seeds and food producing plants, and baked goods that are wrapped, labeled, and intended for home consumption.
This is where you come in! Volunteers are needed to work at the SNAP Station in The Shed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Duties would include running SNAP/EBT cards for customers and exchanging the balance for tokens, verifying SNAP balances for customers, and enjoying the seasonal goodness that the Dallas Farmers Market has to offer! Full training will be provided for volunteers, and volunteer shifts are flexible.
